Scott Schaffer

Scott graduated in 1986 from Brandon Valley High School. 

As a standout runner and wrestler, Scott earned eleven varsity letter awards during his high school career - three in wrestling and four each in cross country and track and field.

Wrestling at 119 pounds, Scott was a runner-up at the state meet as a junior, but came back his senior season and claimed the state title.  Along the way, he compiled a 31-1 season record, with his only loss at the 126-pound weight class.  His stellar season established a new record for wins in a season as well as most takedowns and escapes marks.  He was also a two-time Big 8 Conference champion and won several invitational titles.

Scott was a member of the Lynx State Championship Track and Field Teams in 1985 and 1986.  He anchored state championship 3200-meter and Medley relay teams his senior year as well as running on other relays which contributed to team success.  His team's 1985 3200 meter relay set a school record that stood until 2010.  He also contributed team points when he placed in the 800-meter run at the state meet his senior season. 

Scott earned a track scholarship to USD and later transferred to Dakota State University. 

His favorite Lynx memory was winning the state 119 pound wresting championship.
